Kersi Lord Receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2010

It took us a while to get this post up but I'm sure you all will forgive the delay and join me in congratulating my father, Kersi Lord, for winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2010 for devoted services to the Indian Film Industry as a Cine Musician. Although Dad has had to wait all these years for this well deserved recognition, I believe 2010 is his year.

On, April 30th, 2010, the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy at the 141st Dadasaheb Phalke Birth Anniversary ceremony also celebrated a host of Hindi film greats such as Dev Anand, Pran, Manoj Kumar, Shreeram Lagoo, Jagdeep, amongst many others. The honourable Chief Guest, Shri Chhagan Bhujbal, presided over the event.

Congratulations Papa! As always, we are so proud of you.
Friends, check out some of the pictures of the big day. Feel free to leave your comments, I will make sure that Dad gets them.

Kersi Lord Wins Mirchi Music Award ‘09 for Outstanding Contribution to Hindi Film Music

On February 10th, 2010, my dad accepted an award that was a long time coming. As i stood in the crowd with one of my sisters Peri and her kids, my husband Nitesh (aka Ajay), a close friend of my father Ajay Talgeri and a family friend Kshitij Mehta, tears filled my eyes.

There on the stage was my dear Papa, who after 60 years of hard work, was gracefully accepting this award commending a lifetime’s worth of his work. I can’t possibly imagine how amazing it must have felt for him to watch as the entire crowd got to their feet in what was the only standing ovation of the night.  Later, in his most characteristically humble way he told me, “When everyone stood up, it felt so good. I’ve never felt something like this before.”

The award comes to him from an association set up by Radio Mirchi, the Mirchi Music Awards. Now, in the second year of its existence this is, surprisingly, the only award show in India which specifically focuses on appreciating music and musicians (film and independent). The Jury this year was led by the great lyricist Javed Akhtar and included Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anu Malik and many other music and film legends.

On behalf of my dad, i would like to thank Mirchi, the jury and all his numerous friends and fans across the globe for making this night so special for him. It is one he, nor i, will ever forget. Thank you.
